Agate druzy forms when tiny quartz crystals, known as drusy crystals, grow on the surface of a base material, such as agate, chalcedony, or other minerals. These crystals form as a result of the precipitation of silica-rich solutions within cavities, fractures, or vugs in the host rock. Over time, the silica solutions crystallize and solidify, forming a layer of sparkling drusy crystals on the surface of the rock.
